The evidence behind the use of hydroxychloroquine remains patchy and at the moment the RCP does not support its routine use in patients with COVID-19.
There has been an inconsistent message about this in previous communications from us but the statement given by RCP president Professor Andrew Goddard in his Q&A session on 19.3.20 is as above and remains the RCP position for the moment.
The summary slide in an earlier version of the COVID19 management resource suggested more routine use but this is not our position. Given the rapidly changing evidence around COVID-19 this position may change and our web resources are updated regularly to reflect any changes.
