Professionalism: The dedicated doctor - what does it take?

What we are doing

The RCP is running a programme of work to support the understanding of what professionalism looks like in the context of modern society, and how professionals can gain, maintain or restore trust.

Through academic research, interviews, focus groups, surveys and learning events, the project will:

  • define the attitudes, values and behaviours required of the modern doctor and identify how those can be taught, nurtured and learned.
  • evaluate the role and evolution off professional regulation and standards
  • examine the changing forces of society and their impact on professionalism
  • develop practical recommendations to highlight the importance of professionalism and imbed it's practice within the context of modern medicine.
